Q: does anyone have a simple macaroni salad recipe that calls for 1 sm. jar of pimentos in it?
Last Thanksgiving, my mother-in-law found a macaroni salad recipe off a box of macaroni and cheese and it was very simple. we lost it, but i do remerber it called for a sm. jar of pimentos. I think also some sugar, sm. white onion, mayo, and a little prepared mustard. If anyone out there has a mac. salad recipe similar to this please answer.

A: This is how I make it.

1 lb box of macaroni, cooked by directions on box, rinse in cold water, and drain
1 small jar of chopped pimentos, drained
1/4 cup of diced green bell pepper
1/4 cup of diced sweet onion
2 chopped hard boiled eggs
1/2 cup of diced celery
1/4-1/2 tsp of prepared mustard
1/4 tsp of sugar
salt and pepper to taste
I prefer to use Miracle Whip salad dressing, but have mixed M.W with Helman’s mayo before. Mix ingredients and then add to macaroni. Add enough salad dressing, to coat all ingredients. If you use only mayonnaise, you may want to add just a tablespoon or two of milk to thin. It depends on your taste, but you can add more of the listed ingredients, if you want. You can add diced american cheese if you wish to the salad. I prefer it without.

Q: Looking for a specific type of Macaroni Salad recipe?
I am trying to find a recipe for macaroni salad that I have had in this hole-in-wall sub shack. It is so good, but the thing is I think they use sour cream.

It looks like it is pepper, macaroni, and sour cream, but I have never made a macaroni salad. Any suggestions?? PS the mayo ones are usually too strong for me, but this one is really creamy.
It doesn’t have all that stuff in it.. Just Macaroni, pepper, and some white creamy sauce?

A: I think this is specific enough:

1 cup mayonaise
8 ounces elbow macoroni cooked, drained and cooled
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 cup celery, sliced
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 cup green or red peppers, chopped
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon pepper

1. In a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard, sugar, salt and pepper.
Mix until smooth.

2. Add macaroni, celery, green pepper and onion. Toss to coat.

3. Cover and regrigerate for at least two hours to blend flavors.

Q: Anyone have tips for hosting a party and a good macaroni salad recipe?
I am hosting a party at our new house this weekend. I’ve never played host before, so I have no idea what to do. There will be about 20 people there and hopefully it doesn’t rain.

Along with entertaining, I need to develop a menu. I believe we will do hamburgers and hot dogs (any other ideas are welcomed), but I am stumped for side dishes. Does anyone have an easy and delicious macaroni salad recipe? I would prefer if it didn’t have any seafood in it.

A: Macaroni Salad

1 package salad macaroni, cooked
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1/2 onion, chopped
3 ribs of celery, chopped
Mayonnaise (however much you want it to be, start with a small amount and add a little at a time until you reach desired consistency)
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese (depends on how much you want in the salad)

Mix the macaroni, bell pepper, onion and celery together, then add mayonnaise. Add cheese last, and any more mayo, if required. Salt and Pepper to taste. Better if made the night before, the flavors merge together.

Fresh fruit skewers are always a fun addition – watermelon, cantelope, pineapple. Chips, potato salad, or cole slaw are always good, too. If you want recipes for the potato salad or cole slaw, just email me.

Q: Does anyone have a good macaroni salad recipe?
I am looking for a good but simple macaroni recipe that will feed at least twelve people. I do not like to take anything that will spoil or ruin outside so what would you suggest that i store it in?

A: INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
4 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
2/3 cup white sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 large onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1/4 cup grated carrot (optional)
2 tablespoons chopped pimento peppers (optional)

DIRECTIONS
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni, and cook until tender, about 8 minutes. Rinse under cold water and drain.
In a large bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, mustard, salt and pepper. Stir in the onion, celery, green pepper, carrot, pimentos and macaroni. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving, but preferably overnight.

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
16 ounces uncooked elbow macaroni
4 carrots, shredded
1 large red onion, chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 cup chopped celery
2 cups mayonnaise
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup white vinegar
salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add macaroni, and cook until tender, about 8 minutes. Rinse under cold water, and drain.
In a large bowl, stir together the carrots, red onion, green pepper, red pepper and celery. Mix in the mayonnaise, condensed milk, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Add the macaroni, toss gently, cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours. I usually make this a day ahead of time, and stir it occasionally to blend the flavors. The macaroni will absorb some of the liquid.

Q: I need a really yummy macaroni salad recipe! Anyone have an easy one?
I want to make a cold macaroni salad for dinner. I want a flavorful recipe that isn’t too mayo-ish. I like mayo but I’d like to make it more flavorful than that.

Anyone have a good recipe?

A: You can sub a cup of italian dressing or a quick vinaigrette for the mayo. Or use either of the thinner dressings instead of the Ranch and mayo combo.

Macaroni Salad

1 lb. elbow macaroni, boiled according to packaged directions, drained, rinsed w/ cold water
Small can of sliced black olives, drained
Small jar of diced pimientos, drained
¼ cup chopped parsley
¼ cup chopped purple onion
3 green onions, chopped (white & green)
½ cup large-shred cheddar cheese
10 oz. box of green peas, frozen
1 tsp. kosher salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup prepared Ranch dressing

Refrigerate cooked pasta until cold. Add next 7 ingredients and toss. Combine salt, pepper, mayonnaise, and Ranch dressing; pour over salad and toss well. Taste and adjust for seasonings.

Other ingredients which may be included are shredded carrots, quartered artichoke hearts, sliced hearts of palm, diced cucumber, diced fresh tomato, chopped sundried tomatoes, sliced boiled eggs, crumbled crisp bacon, diced red or green bell peppers, feta cheese, or minced salami.

Anyone know how to make amish potato salad? Also I’d love to make an amish macaroni salad. If you know how to make either please let me know. Thanks!

A: amish macaroni salad

2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
3 hard-cooked eggs, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 small red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
2 tablespoons dill pickle relish
2 cups creamy salad dressing (e.g. Miracle Whip)
3 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
3/4 cup white sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon celery seed

Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add macaroni, and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, until tender. Drain, and set aside to cool.
In a large bowl, stir together the eggs, onion, celery, red pepper, and relish. In a small bowl, stir together the salad dressing, mustard, white sugar, vinegar, salt and celery seed. Pour over the vegetables, and stir in macaroni until well blended. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

amish potato salad

6 medium white potatoes with skin
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped carrots
1 teaspoon celery seed
4 hard-cooked eggs, peeled and chopped

2 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
3 tablespoons butter
1 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing

Place the potatoes into a large pot, and fill with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, and cook for about 20 minutes, or until easily pierced with a fork. Drain, and set aside to cool.
While the potatoes are cooking, whisk together 2 eggs, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan. Stir in the vinegar, milk, and mustard. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat, and stir in the butter. Refrigerate until cool, then stir in the mayonnaise.
Peel the potatoes if desired, and cut into medium dice. Place in a large bowl, and toss with the onion, celery, carrots, celery seed and hard-cooked eggs. Gently fold in the dressing. Refrigerate until serving. I personally like this to sit for at least a day before serving to let the flavors blend, but you may serve it as soon as it is chilled.

The first recipe reminds me of my mother’s recipe, and it sounds a lot like your grandmother’s recipe. At least, I hope so! I’m also including two other recipes (if I can fit them on) that I thought you might like to take a look at. They were very highly rated. Here are the recipes:

Q: Macaroni Salad Recipe?
Does anybody have a good and easy recipe for Macaroni Salad?

I’m trying to find one with little chunks of cheese and hardboiled eggs, but I haven’t found one like that yet…

Thanks!

A: 2 C uncooked elbow macaroni
2 stalks celery chopped
1/2 green pepper chopped
1 medium onion chopped
3 hardboiled eggs
1 C cubed sharp cheese
3 TBS Italian seasoning
1TBS garlic powder
2 C Mayonaise
salt and pepper to taste

Place the eggs in with the macaroni to cook. Both take the same time and easy. While they are cooking, prepare the rest of the ingredients. Rinse and drain the macaroni. Peel the cooled eggs (place in ice water to cool faster and to make peeling easier). Shred the cooked eggs and mix all the ingredients together. YUMMY! All takes less than 1/2 hour to prepare.

Q: Does anybody have a good macaroni salad recipe?
I have a potluck to attend on Wednesday and I would really appreciate any ideas. I had a great recipe, but I gave the index card with the recipe to a friend to borrow and she lost it. Thank you.

A: WoW! You came to the right macaroni Salad maker!!! I invented this Pasta Salad, and my family and friends love it, so we call it, “Eat a Gallon Pasta Salad!” ;~)
Cook pasta, al dente…you can use Elbows, Bows, or colored Spirals. At the last few minutes of cooking, toss in some Brocolli, small pieces. Then drain. When cool, toss in some Grape tomatoes, Black Olives, Green Olives, Green Peppers, Red Peppers, Celery, Carrots, sliced thin, and some cubed Cheese…Mozzarella, Cheddar or what ever you like. You can add Mushrooms, too,,,if you like. Salt & Pepper it. Refridgerate the tossed salad…then…just before serving, mix it all up with Kraft Zesty Salad dressing…It’s so good…everyone will want to “eat a gallon” of it!
