Q: Best Baked Macaroni & Cheese Recipe?
I am wondering what your favorite baked macaroni and cheese recipe is. I am hoping to add cubed ham to it. They serve this dish at East Side Marios and I love it.

A: Oprah had it on her show so can’t be bad.!

Patti La Belle says that the sure sign of a good cook is if their macaroni and cheese will make you cry! According to Oprah, Patti’s version just might bring tears to your eyes.

INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 pound elbow macaroni
8 tablespoons (1 stick) plus 1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded Muenster cheese
1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded mild Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded Monterey Jack
2 cups half-and-half
1 cup (8 ounces) Velveeta, cut into small cubes
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly butter a deep 2 1/2-quart casserole.

Bring the large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the oil, then the elbow macaroni, and cook until the macaroni is just tender, about 7 minutes. Do not overcook. Drain well. Return to the cooking pot.

In a small saucepan, melt eight tablespoons of the butter. Stir into the macaroni. In a large bowl, mix the Muenster, mild and sharp Cheddar, and Monterey Jack cheeses. To the macaroni, add the half-and-half, 1 1/2 cups of the shredded cheese, the cubed Velveeta, and the eggs. Season with salt and pepper. Transfer to the buttered casserole. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheese and dot with the remaining one tablespoon of butter.

Bake until it’s bubbling around the edges, about 35 minutes. Serve hot.

Q: Can someone please give me a simple baked Macaroni & Cheese recipe?
No soups, flours or tomatoes. Just a simple homemade mac & cheese recipe that is really easy and quick to cook.

A: Here is a very simple recipe:
1 box of elbow mac
1 package of Shredded chedder cheese (I use the sharp and mild combo)
one small package of velveeta cubed
milk
salt and pepper

Cook the mac and drain
mix in the cheeses and velveeta
add the milk(I don’t measure it just until it looks right, depends on how much mac and cheese is in the dish)
pour into a buttered dish
top with buttered bread crumbs
bake at 350 until bubbly

I want to make baked macaroni and cheese for dinner. I want a recipe that uses herbs and is very cheesy. Any suggestions?

A: My Family loves this one:

Ingredients

* 1/2 pound elbow macaroni
* 3 tablespoons butter
* 3 tablespoons flour
* 1 tablespoon powdered mustard
* 3 cups milk
* 1/2 cup yellow onion, finely diced
* 1 bay leaf
* 1/2 teaspoon paprika
* 1 large egg

Melt the butter in a saute pan and toss the bread crumbs to coat. Top the macaroni with the bread crumbs. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and rest for five minutes before serving.

Remember to save leftovers for fried Macaroni and Cheese.

Q: Baked Macaroni and Cheese recipe with sugar?
I’ve heard different recipes for homemade mac n cheese, but someone once told me that her secret ingrediant was sugar. Does anyone have a recipe that uses sugar? Is it powered or granulated? Thanks!
Thanks for the great recipes! Can’t wait to try them!

A: 1 lb elbow macaroni, cooked – al dente, drained well
2 overflowing cups of sharp cheddar cheese, shredded or cut into 1/4-in cubes
1 can evaporated milk
1 tbsp sugar (granulated)
1 egg, beaten
Season salt – to taste
Fresh cracked black pepper – to taste
Dash or two or three or four of cayenne pepper

Pre-heat the oven to 350°F.

In a bowl, mix cooked and well drained macaroni and cheese together.

In another bowl whisk together eggs, milk, sugar and seasoning. Pour egg/milk mixture over mac and cheese mixture, stir until well incorporated. Pour into baking dish or tin, cover with foil.

Bake for about an hour. Remove foil, turn on broiler – broil top of mac and cheese until golden brown and bubbly.

Q: Anyone have a baked macaroni and cheese recipe where you don’t boil the noodles?
I would love a recipe that didn’t require boiling the noodles before adding them to the casserole. I have tried that with lasagna and it worked great. However, I am a little nervous about trying that with mac & cheese as there isn’t as much sauce like there is in lasagna. Thanks for any help.

A: •Crock Pot macaroni and Cheese

1 1/2 cups milk
1 15-ounce can evaporated milk
1 large egg beaten
1/4 tsp salt
Large pinch of black pepper
1 1/2 cups medium or sharp cheddar cheese shredded
8 ounces elbow macaroni (about 2 cups)
2 Tbls grated parmesan cheese

1. Coat the slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Combine evaporated and regular milks, egg, salt and pepper in the cooker and whisk until smooth. Add the cheese and macaroni, gently stir with a rubber spatula to coat evenly with the milk and cheese mixture. Sprinkle the parmesan on the top.

2. Cover and cook on low until the custard is set in the center and the pasta is tender, 3 1/2-4 hours. Do not cook more than 4 hours, as the sides will dry out and burn.

Note: If you want to make this a low calorie dish you can use lowfat or skim milk, and evaporated skim milk. I also love that you don’t have to cook the macaroni first.
