Q: Good but EASY coleslaw dressing recipe?
I want to make coleslaw for a side dish tonight but i’ve never made the dressing homemade. Can someone please give me an easy recipe that tastes good? Thanks!
A: The plain ol’ good original way to make cole slaw is the obvious chopped cabbage, purple cabbage and carrots. Then use regular mayo, some vinegar and a little sugar (I’ve even used splenda and hubby didn’t know). That’s it.
Ugh, that sure isn’t an old southern recipe…celery seed? ick
NO salt or pepper! And I don’t care what foodnetwork says! I was around long before them! lol
Lol thumbs down or not, if you live in NC or down south and you make it with the other recipes they copied from the web, well your guests may eat it, but they only did it to be nice to you!
Q: Good coleslaw dressing recipe??
Does anyone have a good recipe for coleslaw? Not the cabbage etc, but the actual dressing. Thanks in advance!!
A: Adjust amounts in receipe to suit your needs: Slaw-Mix: 3/4C sugar, 1/4C lemon juice, 1C white vinegar, 1C pineapple juice, 3Tbs. salt, 1Tbs. black pepper. mix together, add to cabbage mixture. Let sit overnight (it’ll make it’s own juices). Mix with mayo… go easy on the mayo till consistancy you like.
Q: Quick and easy coleslaw dressing recipe !!!?
Something yummy…and quick with stuff I have around my kitchen. I don’t like the store bought kind. Thanks

A: Take a head of fresh cabbage, shred it finely in a food processer. Dump in a large bowl, shredd carrots add them to the cabbage, add mayo as much as you want to your taste, salt and pepper. Sitr well and let set for 1-2 hours in the fridge. There you have fresh homemade coleslaw.

Q: Do you know a recipe for a simple good coleslaw dressing?
I cooked corned beef and cabbage for St. Paddy’s day and only used a half of head of cabbage. Just need something quick and simple. Thanks
A: 2 cups Miracle Whip or mayo
1/2 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Vinegar
I like to use some celery seed and a bit of onion to the cabbage, shredded carrots if you have them
Just taste and adjust but it does need to sit for the flavors to mingle
Q: What is a recipe for a good dressing/sauce to pour on coleslaw?
I like a creamy dressing for my slaw but I can’t seem to make the liquid to my satisfaction. I usually just put Miracle Whip in it but I’m ready for something different. Oh, does sweet pickle relish taste okay in slaw? I appreciate you!
♥
A: This recipe makes a bunch of dressing. Store in tightly sealed jar in fridge for up to 2 months.
1 can crushed pineapple
1 cup honey
2 cups mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 tablespoon celery salt
1 tablespoon celery seed
salt to taste
Blend all ingredients together til smooth with wooden spoon or electric mixer. Or you can put into large jar and shake til it becomes smooth.
Q: Does anyone know the recipe Jumpin Catfish restaraunt in Olathe Ks uses for their coleslaw (dressing)?
A: No, I don’t. But I’ve eaten there, and know what you mean. Awesome stuff. My dear mother, God rest her soul, made an excellent coleslaw. I can’t give you an exact recipe (She didn’t have one) but here goes. I make it and it turns out okay, but not as good as hers.
One small head of cabbage, shredded
one small can of crushed pineapple
one cup of salad dressing or mayonaisse.
one cup of miniature marshmallows.
one cup of powdered sugar
Now those one cup measurements are not exact, but close. I do it to taste. This is an excellent, simple coleslaw. I also salt and pepper to taste, but some think this is gross for this particular recipe.
Q: Looking for Jamie Oliver Coleslaw recipe!?
I am desperately trying to find the recipe for Jamie Olivers coleslaw w/ yogurt dressing that I saw on Jamie At Home on Food TV. Does anyone have it? They don’t post it on Foodtv and I can’t find it on his website. Desperate!
A: Is this it? http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes/chefs/jamie-oliver/the-best-winter-veg-coleslaw-recipe-08-01-23_p_1.html
Q: A good coleslaw recipe?
I’m looking for a coleslaw recipe. Nothing fancy, just the mayonnaise-y kind you get at delis and barbeques. I’ve looked online, and I can’t decide what recipes seem closest to what I want: I’ve seen the dressing containing everything from mayo to heavy cream to yougurt. Also, I was under the impression the cabbage had to be marinated or something, is this not true?
Please only let me know if recipes you personally have tried and thanks for your help.
A: This is a copycat recipe of KFC’S coleslaw, it’s VERY good and easy!
8 cups cabbage, finely chopped
1/4 cup carrots, shredded
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
Cut cabbage and carrots into small pieces about the size of rice kernels (the food processor is great for this!).
In a salad bowl, combine the sugar, salt, pepper, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar and lemon juice. Beat until smooth. Add the cabbage and carrots. Mix well. Cover and refrigerate.
Q: Recipe for coleslaw made with bananas?
My grandmother who passed away, used to make homemade coleslaw. I remember her making the dressing with mayo and milk, she grated cabbage, and don’t remember what else she did. I also know there were bananas in it. Anyone else know of that type of recipe?
A: She probably substituted bananas for sugar in her recipe. Try it.
Sugar wasn’t always available and as cheap as it is today. Since mashed banana is very sweet, this was a logical kitchen experiment that worked. Could also be that as a kid, you wouldn’t eat coleslaw an so she added your favorite food at the time to get you interested. Just a thought….
I also make salads with milk sometimes. You will need a little vinegar to make the milk sour and thicken. Let’s see a little onion if you like is also good. I also like ground caraway seeds in my coleslaw and sometimes a carrot for color. Cabbage usually needs salt too. Bye now.
Q: whats the recipe for coleslaw salad with raisin and pineapple tidbits aside from the usual cabbage, etc?

Directions:

Q: I have heard of a recipe using a coleslaw and chocolate mint mixture.?
My husband thought he saw the recipe on the food network. The dressing used chocolate mint herb.
A: well, i have tried chocolate mint (the herb) and thought that the flavor wan’t as chocolatey as the aroma. some asian dishes use cabbage and mint together with a bunch of other herbs and spices, so i can see how it might go together. i’m from California, and out here us chefs cook up some crazy flavor combos from many different ethnic cuisines, so i guess anything is possible!
Q: I’m making coleslaw. Do you think salad dressing or mayo is better in coleslaw?
I’m using it on hotdogs. I was just going to use salad dressing, sugar, a very small amount of onion, and cider vinegar. Do you have a better recipe?
A: You’ve got a good recipe! But you might find that the salad dressing provides lots of sweetness on its own, so go very light on the sugar. If you want to use sugar, maybe consider mayo instead. Use just enough cider vinegar to make it a pourable mixture. Taste it first before adding it to the slaw. When you say “YUM” you’ll know it’s right.
Q: Kraft Coleslaw dressing?
We can’t buy Kraft coleslaw dressing in UK, and Kradft don’t distribute it here.
Does anyone know the recipe for it? or NEAR it?
All the available coleslaw dressing here are rubbish, and on the “contents” section on the bottle we’ve just finished it’s only vague -not anyway detailed enough to make it ourselves.
Help, please?
EDIT: Thanks Folks! – I’m going to have fun trying all the ones in so far.. Please keep them coming though, and I’ll be happy to give them all my best shot!
Tich
Erica , – t’wasn’t who gave you a thumbs down ,… honest

A: this the closets you’ll come to Kraft’s coleslaw’s recipe
In a small bowl blend all the below together well:

1 cupful of cold Apple Cider Vinegar and a touch more to your taste
Milk just enough to make like the texture of ranch dressing
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. sugar ..for those who are diabetics ..use Equal
salt, pepper, and touch of garlic
Taste…If too sweet add little more apple cider vinegar … if too tart add touch sugar
This is tart and sweet …. a really nice blend.
Q: i am looking for a particular recipe?
it is a coleslaw, but with a blue cheese dressing. anyone have something like this they could share?
A: this is ina garten’s. her recipes are really good!
Blue Cheese Cole Slaw
1/2 small head green cabbage
1/2 small head red cabbage
4 large carrots, scrubbed or peeled
2 cups (16 ounces) good mayonnaise
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons whole grain mustard
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon celery salt
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 cups (6 ounces) crumbled Roquefort blue cheese
1 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
Cut the cabbages in half and then in quarters and cut out the cores. Set up the food processor with the slicing blade (according to manufacturer’s instructions) and place the pieces of cabbage, one at a time, lying horizontally in the feed tube. (If they don’t fit, cut them to fit lying down.) Place the feed tube pusher on top and turn on the processor. Don’t push on the feed tube pusher or the slices will turn out too thick! Continue with the remaining red and green cabbage quarters. Transfer into a large bowl, discarding any very large pieces. Before you pour the dressing on the salad, save a handful of the grated vegetables to decorate for serving.
Change the slicing blade for the large shredding blade and cut the carrots so they also lie down in the feed tube. Since the carrots are hard, replace the feed tube pusher and press firmly with the food processor on. Transfer to bowl with the cabbages.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, both mustards, vinegar, celery salt, kosher salt, and pepper. Pour enough mayonnaise dressing over the grated vegetables and toss to moisten well. Add crumbled blue cheese and parsley and toss together. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for several hours to allow the flavors to meld. Serve cold or at room temperature.
